The director of a blade manufacturing company said in a recent conversation that manufacturers rely on quality sharpeners such as ourselves to get the best performance out of their blades.
We started our own sharpening service over twenty five years ago after experiencing a number of poor re-grinds on our daughters’ blades.
I was trained by the then top man in UK in the early 1990s and still use the fine Sid Broadbent Incredible Edger machines in their latest form, which are generally acknowledged to be the best for figure skates. We have 2 of these machines for our own use in Auckland.
Over the years I have looked after skaters both amateur and professional including 3 past Olympic champions so can assure you of a top quality sharpen.
I gained invaluable experience whilst working on the first seven series of Dancing on Ice with Torvill and Dean.
